7 Brilliant Stain Removal Tips

It’s happened to all of us. That delicious glass of red wine or chocolate cake you were about to devour suddenly ends up on your shirt, or worse, the floor.

Whether from dinner or accidents from the kids, stains happen. However, they don’t have to mean the end of the world.

The key is to know how to tackle these stains and eliminate them as soon as possible. That’s why I will share these:

Stain Removal Tips for 7 of the Most Common Stains.

1. Red Wine Stains. Knowing how to remove red wine stains is one of those life skills that’ll always come in handy. There is nothing worse than when someone spills red wine on your couch or carpet.

Just pour some white wine (yes, I’m sure) over the stain and sprinkle with baking soda. Allow it to form a paste and then scrub. Optional step: drink the remaining white wine 🙂

2. Coffee Stains. Spilled coffee on your shirt or on the floor? A magical solution of one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, two cups of cool water, and one tablespoon of White Vinegar will make coffee stains go away! Check out more uses for white vinegar here.

3. Chocolate Stains. We’ve all gotten chocolate on something we shouldn’t have (usually when we’re eating secret chocolate whilst hiding from kids and/or the other half). Just one tablespoon of dishwashing soap and two cups of cold water will get the stain out.

4. Gravy Stains. Don’t let a gravy spill ruin your holiday dinner! First, blot the spill, then soak it in laundry stain remover for 2 hours. This should lift the stain.

5. Cranberry Sauce Stains. This stain is another potential holiday dinner disaster. Never fear! Mix half a tablespoon of mild liquid clothes detergent and vinegar combined with one quart of cool water.

Let the solution sit on the stain for 15 minutes and then rinse off.

6. Grass Stains. If you have kids, then you have grass stains. Pre-treat the stain with a 50/50 warm water and white vinegar solution.

Saturate the stain well and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Apply laundry detergent directly to the stain and scrub. This should remove the stain.

7. Blood Stains. More than once I’ve cut myself and gotten blood on my shirt or pants. Luckily, it is very easy to remove.

Pour hydrogen peroxide directly onto the area with the blood. Wait for the blood to begin to bubble up and you can just wipe it away.

Keep doing this until all of the blood is gone.
